Today was our last day to work on our Griot projects in class. The videos must be uploaded to Flipgrid by Monday morning. Many students chose to record their videos at home so they could be more creative or include family members. If students are recording at home, they MUST have them posted by Monday morning. I will be here tomorrow morning at 8:30 if any students want to work from 8:30-9 on their project or record it in my classroom. My teacher examples are on Canvas, as well as the grading rubric.

This week all science classes have been working on the Amplify Light Waves Unit.  We have studied light's affect on matter.  We have also been investigating different light sources, as well as the Electromagnetic Spectrum. NO HOMEWORK YET THIS WEEK

Today we started working on our big Medieval African Griot project. This project will be a significant grade for this 9 weeks. Please ask your students about their project. They will be creating a story as if they were an African Griot about their own family. This will include family stories and/or family traditions. They will then create a minute & 30 second video were they speak their story over music or rap/sing their song over music. We will be working on this project most of this week. Please email me if you have any questions/concerns about this project. You can find all the requirements on Canvas.

Today all classes began chapter 1 in the Light Waves Unit.  Students introduction was looking at the affects of light on matter.  NEED EXTRA CREDIT!!!  CONTACT ME!

Today the morning classes finished their Magnetic Fields Post Test, worked on Light Waves vocabulary and if time permitted, did the Pre Test for Light Waves.  Mr. Dennis from the University of Kentucky came to speak to the afternoon classes. NEED EXTRA CREDIT?  PLEASE SEE ME!

Today, students began reviewing for their Unit 3 test on Thursday and Friday. We began an online review, accessible here . Students will finish the review tomorrow before the test on Thursday and Friday.

Today we wrapped up the kingdoms of Africa project presentations. We began Chapter 13 Section 2 notes. If you did not finish your chapter 13 section 2 notes, please finish those as homework tonight. I will check them tomorrow. Today all classes are reaching an end to the amplify Magnetic Fields Unit, as students worked on the scientific argument as well as the Post Test. NEED EXTRA CREDIT?????  SEE ME!

Today, students worked on their guided reading questions that accompany their "Uprising" text. All of the guided reading questions are due on Tuesday, February 18th after the long weekend. Please check Infinite Campus to see if you have any missing work to make up!

Students will have 15 minutes at the beginning of class to tie up loose ends on their project plan sheets and Google slides document. If you need more time than 15 minutes to do the part you are accountable for, you need to work on that this evening. You can access your Google Drive at home. If students do not have access to internet at home, please go to the library before morning dismissal to make sure you get your parts complete. Students will present in class tomorrow. I am staying after school tomorrow from 4-5 pm to work with students who want to catch up on missing work.

Today in all classes but 8th we went over the Magnetic Fields Critical Juncture from yesterday in order to prepare for the Post Test tomorrow.  Time remaining students completed Magnetic Fields 3.3, Making a Claim. Today 8th hour will complete the Critical Juncture and 3.3, Making a Claim. 2nd-6th hours will take the Post Test tomorrow, 8th hour will take the post test next week. ANYONE NEEDING EXTRA CREDIT????  PLEASE SEE ME!

Students completed a timed reading exercise in class today and continued to work on "Uprising." Make sure the Yetta section of your text is complete for tomorrow, where we will move on to Jane. Homework: Vocab packet 8 is due tomorrow, Wednesday February 12th. 4th, 6th, 8th Hour: Ghost chapter 7 is due on Thursday, February 13th.

Today we began our African Kingdoms project. Students were put into groups and given their kingdom. We will work in class tomorrow again and present the projects later this week. Students can access their Project Plan/Research Sheets at home via their Google Drives if they want to work on the research more at home.

Today in all classes students are taking the Magnetic Fields Critical Juncture Formative test.  Students finishing before the end of the class period can work on the argumentative claim on "why the model spacecraft went faster on Wednesday than on Tuesday." EXTRA CREDIT!!!! SEE ME ABOUT RECYCLING THE SCHOOL'S METAL FOR CREDIT!

Students need to finish Chapter 13 Section 1 notes for homework if they did not in class today. Today, students began reading the short story "Uprising" and answering questions in a guided reading packet. For tomorrow, students need to read and complete the questions for the first section, "Yetta" (page 283-290). The lesson 8 vocabulary packet is also due on Friday, February 7th.

All students are still currently working on Amplify Magnetic Fields.  All classes revisited the Unit Mission and Claims, either with hands on labs or simulations. Students will take the Critical Journal either on Thursday or Friday of this week and the Post Test next week.  Stay tuned!

All classes did a warm up today to show growth in the area of potential and kinetic energy as it relates to magnetic fields.  The morning classes worked on a hands-on lab isolating variables to prove where the most potential energy occurs in the launcher/spacecraft system.  The afternoon classes made an electromagnet. No Homework

Today, students completed a timed reading on an informational article. If students did not finish the 9 questions or their corrections, this is due tomorrow. Vocabulary packets are due on Friday, when there will also be a quiz on lesson 8. 4th, 6th, 8th Hours - Ghost  chapter 5 is due on Thursday.

Today we began our Medieval Africa unit. We started the geography of Africa today. If you did not complete the notes that went along with the  Africa Geography video , then you need to complete this tonight and make sure you upload it to Canvas.
